Anyone who has been paying attention to the social, cultural and political landscape of Britain in the last ten years knows that this really isn’t the case.
By Jove was formed by a group of young theatre-makers in 2011 that want to make anyone who hasn’t been paying attention sit up and listen. We’re not living in the land of the apocalypse, for sure, but we’re nowhere near achieving the liberated, equal society that every citizen of this country deserves. The most immediate danger present today is making the mistake that nothing more can be done.

The comp... moreSell a Door was formed in 2008 by Alison Carter, Robert Gilbert, David Hutchinson, Aysha Powell and Phillip Rowntree who were all students at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Its primary focus was to harbour and encourage new writing. The company's début production of The Secrets Inside was written by David Hutchinson and directed by Richard Adams, this was presented at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
David Hutchinson was appointed Artistic Director following Sell a Door's debut production, with Phillip Rowntree as Managing Director. Matthew Grace would join the company as Marketing director in 2010, followed by Mark Smedley as Education Director in 2011.
Sell a Door soon moved into producing regional touring theatre, starting with a UK Tour of Liz Lochhead's Dracula and punk-rock hit musical Spring Awakening which it toured across the UK for the first time.
